COCIR Report on Financial Sustainability Launched!

We are very pleased to have published this week our report on ‘Fostering Financial Sustainability of Healthcare Systems in Europe’.  The report was launched at a workshop on financial sustainability co-organised with HOPE, the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation.  We were very honoured that Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy Tonio Borg opened the workshop with a keynote speech.

The COCIR financial sustainability report is an important milestone of a project which started two years ago.Projects conducted in France, the Netherlands, Sweden and Poland were some of the concrete case studies shared at the workshop.  The report is also a compilation of best practice.

We are at the crossroads of important discussions which are taking place on the future EU budget and on the 2014-2020 programming period on Cohesion Policy Funds.
Our highly-innovative and integrated technology is key especially at this moment of economic crisis when we are all being asked to do more with less.  Commissioner Borg recognises that eHealth should be considered as a long-term investment bringing sustainable benefits over time and encouraged Member States to reform their healthcare systems to maintain quality of care coupled with sustainable healthcare.

One of the next steps will take place in Poland on 20 June 2013 where we will present these innovative financing models and the best use of Structural Funds in health. Enjoy the reading and continue to follow us!
