Focus on International Standardisation

As part of COCIR's focus on international standardisation, it signed in March a renewal of its vows, or in other words a revised cooperation agreement with Cenelec in March 2008.  This agreement centres on cooperation between the two organisations on the standardisation of electromedical equipment.

More recently, COCIR was granted liaison of type A standardisation with the international technical committee of IEC TC 62.  This technical committee is in charge of all international standards covering electromedical equipment.  The official liasison allows COCIR to submit new work item proposals (NWIP) directly at international level which will then be considered as potential future international standards.

COCIR will be hosting the IEC&CLC/TC/SC 62 meetings in from 8-19 June 2009 in Brussels.  Experts will be coming from all over the world to work on future international standards in the field of electromedical equipment”.
